François-Hugues Leclair began his studies with Serge Garant at l’Université de Montréal (1985-86). He continued at the Conservatoires de Strasbourg (1990-95) and La Courneuve (1996-98). He then completed a PhD in composition with Michel Longtin at l’Université de Montréal, where he was appointed professor in 2002. His catalogue, which includes more than sixty works for various ensembles and different levels, is structured around two essential interactive aspects: firstly, the exploration of intersecting perspectives between ancient music and contemporary musical languages; secondly, the creation of multiple relationships between literature and music.Hence the importance of vocal music in his catalogue, drawing on the writings of many authors from here and elsewhere.
